The Department of Medicine of Dhaka Medical College is one of the core disciplines of the institution. Since its establishment in 1946, the dept. not only handles the bulk of non surgical emergencies of DMCH but also has a very strong teaching and research activity. . The Department besides undergraduate (MBBS) runs a number of postgraduate courses, these includes FCPS final part course, MD second part course for internal medicine and all the allied disciplines and MD third part course. Internationally renowned physicians like Prof. Nawab Ali, Prof. S.M. Rob, Prof. Ibrahim, Prof N. Islam, Prof. SGM Chowdhury, Prof. MR Khan, Prof. Syed Mainul Huq, Prof. Mirza Aziul Huq, Prof. AQM Nurul Huq, Prof. Mazhar Ali Quadri have served in this Department.

The Colleges vision is to maintain the appropriate quality of medical education, to give sound academic environment for both undergraduate, post graduate students and also for researchers and to ensure quality assurance of patient care as well as medical education.
