About the Institute:
When Andhra State was formed in October 1953, the Government of Andhra decided to start a medical college in the Rayalaseema region of the state. The college was opened on 21 July 1956. The Kurnool Medical College was first affiliated to Sri Venkateswara University, from January 1957 and permanently affiliated from January 1959. KMC believes in active learning, not only training the healthcare professionals of tomorrow in their specialties, but training them in the communities where they will someday practice. Thats why the College is deeply involved in its surrounding communities, holding camps for the impoverished and underserved, mentoring middle- and high-school students, as well as their teachers, and working with the disabled. Kurnool Medical College provides more than education in medicine and the health sciences. It provides direct involvement in the world of medicine, public health, and basic medical science. It provides learning in the truest sense of the word, by engaging students in their world. It is more than a school. It is a member of the community it serves.
Vision:
The College will continue to be one of the foremost medical College in the state offering an educational program leading to the M.D,P.G, degree, and other health professions. With its wide spectrum of hospital and teaching affiliates, Kurnool Medical College provides excellent educational, research, specialty and primary care opportunities throughout the Rayalaseema region and some parts of Telangana and Karnataka states.
Mission:
Kurnool Medical College is whose purpose is to educate physicians, Surgeons, public health specialists, and other healthcare professionals, and to conduct biomedical and population-based research. Through its faculty and General Hospital clinical partners, the College provides service to its community in an atmosphere of excellence, and professionalism. Kurnool Medical College believes that the rich diversity of its student body and faculty is important to its mission of educating outstanding health care professionals for the multicultural world of the 21st century.
