The Institute of Dermatology was initiated by the Dermatologist Club of Thailand in 1965. On the 5th of September 1968, the Cabinet approved in principle in principle the founding of an Institute of Dermatology in Thailand under the auspices of the Ministry of Public Healths Institute of Dermatology of Thailand project. The intention was to create a dermatology study and research centre specializing in the study and research of tropical dermatology in Thailand, thereby also making better and more effective treatment available to the Thai people.On the 19th of November, 1970, the Minister of Public Health, Police General Prasert Rujirawong laid the foundation stone for the Institutes building.

1. Study, research in-depth development and integration of international standards;
2. Dissemination of knowledge, sharing expertise, and developing a pool specialized personnel;
3. Offer standard and appropriate services especially complex tertiary care to meet the patient’s needs, and to participate in solving citizens emergency and important health problems systematically and effectively.
