About the Institute:
The present KARNATAKA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES, HUBBALLI,( K.I.M.S. HUBBALLI.) was earlier known as the KARNATAKA MEDICAL COLLEGE, HUBBALLI. It was established in AUGUST 1957. Since its inception, the Institution has carried a brilliant history of having a host of eminent teachers as its faculty, numerous alumni who have glorified the name of this Institute, not only in our country but across the globe. It has been playing, and continues to play a major role in serving the society at large, not only in terms of providing tertiary health care services to the needy, but also by developing resources in terms of health care providers and researchers. The decade between 1980 to 1990 changed its face of being a non – descript hospital in terms of treating cancer patients to a well known major and a model comprehensive regional center for cancer treatment & research.
The A.R.T.Center at K.I.M.S. HUBBALLI has been recognized & is being developed as the NODAL CENTER for the entire North Karnataka as well as surrounding region. The Government of Karnataka has also decided to provide CARDIAC CATH. LAB. to our Institute and also to develop & improve the Institute as REGIONAL CARDIOLOGY CENTER. The institute has also been accorded the status of “INSTITUTE OF EXCELLENCE” and also recognized as a TRAINING CENTER FOR W.H.O. FELLOWSHIP.
